Zinc chloride
GOST 7345-78
Zinc dichloride, Butter of zinc, Zinc(II) chloride
Technical zinc chloride (aqueous solution) is a clear, light yellow liquid. It is formed during the process of production of fluorine monomer. Zinc chloride is useful and widely used substance in the industry. Its application is based on specific chemical properties as a drying agent and a flame retardant. It is commonly used:
in the production of fire retardants, such as fireproof foam, impregnation of fabrics and cardboard;
in the oil industry to muffle oil wells;
as an antiseptic impregnation of wood and railway sleepers;
in the chemical industry in the production of vanillin and zinc cyanide;
in technological processes of dye production;
in metallurgy in the production of aluminum and in the soldering of steel or copper casings, screens, also as a flux for cleaning metals before soldering;
in the preparation of electrolyte for dry cells and galvanic baths in electroplating;
in the textile industry as a fixer for paint when dyeing fabrics;
in coal mining industry when testing coal samples for fractional composition;
as a catalyst in organic synthesis during alkylation, Friedel-Crafts acylation;
in hot-dip galvanizing (zinc plating in zinc melt). The addition of fluorine acceptors to liquid hydrogen fluoride allows the creation of super-acidic environment.
The product is manufactured in accordance with the following regulatory documentation: Zinc chloride technical, Mark "B", 1st grade, GOST 7345-78 with amendments 1,2.
